Flynn: *hands Eve a card*
Eve: *reading card* "Get better soon" What? I'm not sick.
Flynn: I know. I just think you could do better.
Eve:...
Eve: Well, clearly. But I believe in the sanctity of marriage.

Finding the truth
Shore leave has just ended for The Enterprise and her crew, but the end of that time comes with an important mission. Hosting 2 Veritas officials of Earth for 2 months, and then their transport back to Earth. Veritas carries a great presence on Earth, the oldest known institution, highly prestigious, invite only. Working above all governments on Earth for as long as it had been recorded in history. The Library has a job to do, a job only its best Librarian and Guardian can do; they must prove that magic is restricted to Earth.

I finished “The Librarians”, y’all. What do I do now? 😱
Tumblr media
Maybe it’s time for a “Leverage” rewatch. That show is perfection.
Tumblr media
A few thoughts first:
1. I weirdly enjoyed the shorter seasons. I felt like the show was more focused.
2. Jenkins. I just adored him. It is by far my favorite role with John Larroquette. The scene where he’s a D&D Dungeon Master was a thing of beauty.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. I love Eve’s maternal vibes.
Tumblr media
4. Love love loved Ezekiel’s character development. The looper episode broke me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5. The ships, but also… not? I totally ship Jacob and Cassandra, but also Jenkins and Cassandra, and yet… I really liked how they just… were. I love a good platonic relationship just as much.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
6. Judson and Charlene.
7. The series finale. I don’t know if they knew the show was ending or not, but this was one of the best series finales I have ever seen. Just beautiful.
Tumblr media
I told my husband this show gave me “SeaQuest” vibes: a great cast of characters, episodes that almost always ended on a happy note, and just a feel good vibe when I watched it. A great comfort show. I adore “Leverage”, too, so it was meant to be.
If you haven’t seen “The Librarians” it is currently streaming on Freevee. I will definitely be purchasing this one.

“Gah! Of course Prospero has managed to evade us again!”
The others exchange looks. Cassandra asks, “Of course?”
“Yes, of course!” says Flynn, throwing up his hands. “The man continues to best us, and it’s no secret as to why! His wiles and cunning are clearly too advanced for us non-magical mortals--”
“Mate, have you been sleeping?” asks Ezekiel.
“--and with someone as skilled as Moriarty at his side, it’s no wonder we continue to fall short!”
Eve puts her hand on his shoulder. “Don’t give up,” she says, slowly. “We have a good, solid team here. There’s no reason why they’re better than we are.”
Flynn realizes, belatedly, that they’re all looking at him like he’s a skittish horse. “--actually,” he says, wrongfooted, “Moriarty is a well-known genius of the literary canon. So there is, actually, a reason why they’re better than us.”
Eve raises an eyebrow. “Since when are you intimidated by fictional mathematicians?”
“This one’s the most formidable enemy of Sherlock Holmes!” says Flynn. “Not to mention his cunning wiles--”
“As opposed to Prospero’s wiles and cunning?” says Jake, biting back a smile.
“--and his general affability, which means that no one sees his cunning until it’s too late. For god’s sake, we were all taken in by him, when we met him! I met him and said, ‘What an intelligent, attractive man! Of course he’s on our side!’ And I’m sure he’s using that good humor and devilish good looks to seduce his way up the countryside and escape our every attempt to track them down!”
They’re all staring at him.
Eve narrows her eyes. “Honey,” she asks, “do you have a crush on Moriarty?”
“--what?” asks Flynn.
“You just said he was attractive,” says Eve, slowly. “You used the phrase ‘devilish good looks’.”
Flynn frowns. “Did I?”
All three of the Librarians-in-training nod. Cassandra purses her lips and says, “I’m going to leave some pamphlets on your desk.”
“What?” asks Flynn.
A small smile starts to grow on Eve’s face. “Don’t worry, hon,” she says. “You’re not the only one who’s noticed his devilish good looks.”
“Okay, I’m leaving,” says Ezekiel. He drags Jake with him, who doesn’t seem displeased by this development.
Cassandra lingers, her eyes still on Flynn’s face. “Several pamphlets,” she says. “Make sure you read them.”
“What?!” asks Flynn.
Eve pats his shoulder. “It’s okay,” she says, again. “If Moriarty ever brings it up--” She reddens. “Well, we’ll deal with that when we get there.”
-
“Oh, I get it,” says Flynn.
Moriarty -- Flynn supposes he should probably call him James now -- removes his hand from Flynn’s hair. “Sorry?” he asks.
On James’ other side, Eve shakes her head. “Don’t worry about it,” she says, her eyes still closed. “Flynn’s brain is just finally catching up with his mouth.”
“Devilishly attractive,” repeats Flynn. “Oh.”
“I’ll just not ask, then,” says James, the humor in his voice audible.
“You get used to it,” says Eve, sleepily.

The ending of the Librarians was ....interesting. Like the fourth and final season just reset itself?? It ends at a beginning. What does that mean for the events of the season?
They haven't happened yet. Do they happen "again" but different somehow? Example, the quest to find the stones of Alexandria wouldn't happen cause the stones are already in the Library. And anything with Nicole will be different cause she's a good guy now.
Another example, the noir episode. Maybe I'm wrong or not remembering correctly, but I'm pretty sure that because Flynn and Eve tethered to the Library that means they may not be going on adventures as often? So instead of them getting trapped in that noir movie, maybe Jake and Cassandra do? Which would be a fun Jassandra AU tbh.
Or do Jeff and Jenkins still switch places? Does the gang go to that camp? Maybe Nicole goes with them instead of Eve. Which could be fun and would be interesting to see how she works with the LITs now that she's a good guy.
And since it all began with the tethering ceremony there's no which one of the LITs is going to tether with Baird. So no Trial of the One?
Some stuff would be the same, but that same stuff would also be different. And... yeah there's just a lot to unpack there.

Life is being very grim today. Distract me with fic recs for The Librarians (any pairings, though I love Eve/Flynn best), Gabriel/Sam Supernatural, or Matt/Foggy Marvel?

Flynn comparing being a Librarian to being a superhero is such a Mystique reference
Especially with the way they immediately cut to Eve

more than learning - a librarians drabble
🌺 on wednesdays we write drabbles 🌺
The Librarians Eve x Flynn
After the events of the series finale, Eve and Flynn get reacquainted.
He begins at the end.
Hot, open-mouthed kisses round the delicate curve of her ankle, climb the soft fullness of her calf.
I missed you.
A playful lick behind an elongated knee—that one almost earns him a reflexive heel to his back as he hoists her leg over his shoulder.
I love you more than anything I've ever learned.
Slick, languid strokes unravel her like gossamer thread, her hips rising until he spreads a warm palm on her belly, tethering her to this (im)mortal plane for a few moments longer, until—until—
I love you more than learning itself.
